Please note that the Irwin Andrew Porter Foundation is no longer accepting open applications.
Our mission is to fund innovative organizations that work at the intersection of culture, development and environment. Projects should be community driven and inspire active participation of community members during the project and into the future.
An ideal project will protect and restore the natural environment; celebrate and sustain distinctive local culture, and support a sustainable economy.
IAP Foundation awards grants range between $4,000 and $50,000 per year. IAP prefers project based grants but will consider applications for capacity building for very small organizations. We accept applications for multi-year grants. All applicants must have U.S. tax exempt status or a fiscal agent with U.S. tax exempt status.
When considering what type of application you wish to make to the Foundation, please note these areas in which IAP will not grant funding:
- Endowments
- Scholarships
- Fundraising events or activities, social events, goodwill advertising or marketing
- Lobbying, political, fraternal, athletic, social or veterans organizations
- Religious programs
- Individuals
- Ordinary School Funding (i.e., normal curriculum, classroom or administrative expenses).
To apply organizations must submit a Phase I application consisting of a one page narrative and a detailed budget. The one page narrative should include the amount of the request and complete contact information as well as summary of the project and the organizations mission.
IAP will select the top submissions from the Phase I application to request a full application.
Phase I applications must be received no later than February 15th at 5pm. Phase I applications can be mailed to:
Irwin Andrew Porter Foundation, 3817 Thomas Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55410.
